Student Teaching

Well it is coming together. I recently found out whom I would be spending the better part of the 2008 spring semester with. I am very excited about the teacher I will sharing a classroom with., Ms. K and her second grade class. I had the pleasure of spending my first clinical with her as my co-operating teaching, so it will be an interesting comparison of classes.

I had already brought up a nice craft idea that I had for Mother’s Day that the class could do. I feel more confident about the student teaching aspect knowing where and who I will be with. I just hope that I do not disappoint. Teaching second grade will give me that middle of the road perspective. Although they are not receiving letter grades at this stage, the length as to which I will be expected to do assessments will be less intensive as opposed to a first grade or kindergarten class.

So know that I know what grade I can formulate lesson plans, generate activity ideas and get the second grade mentality organized. I will be able to talk with her ( the teacher) frequently about the status of the curriculum for the classroom. I am in the school at least once a week for work reasons. So for those that are still waiting on the placement, I keep my fingers and toes crossed for you that you receive the placement you wish for. :)

  1. ’second class’ or ’second grade class’?

  2. I was told my placement. I have a 7th grade Social Studies class for 3Q and an 8th grade Social Studies class for 4Q. I was also told by our co-ordinator that I would be starting in the classroom on the 24th of January.
