Preparation

The prep is on for student teaching this week.  Sadly I had to quit my full time job in order to student teach so stress is high where bills are concerned.  I am slowly getting my things organized and pulling together some resources together that will assist my co-operating teacher.  I am nervous and excited all at the same time.  I don’t believe I have had those two emotions at the same time.  At any rate, I have begun to formulate the multitude of full-length lesson plans that will have to be presented to my supervising college professor  when I am to be observed.  I find my self at a loss however when it comes to writing a full length lesson plan for second grade math.  I have a feeling this will be my weak area that I will have to work on.

My first informal is already scheduled for next week and the three of us (Myself, co-operating teacher and the supervising professor) will have a lovely informational session in regards to expectations during my student teaching role.

I still need to get my lesson plan binder in order and formulate some second grade lesson plans for all contents.  The thought of taking over an entire classroom that is not my own only concerns me at the management level.  Meaning I would have to learn the teacher’s classroom management plan and be able to maintain it.

I have met several of the students within her classroom and they are very respectable and bright.  At least on the surface.  God knows what they will do and how they will behave when I actually take over and she is gone.  I will just have to remain firm and keep them on task and busy so there is no time for mischief.

Keep an eye out for further updates on the student teaching journal……..

  1. Hey, I wrote a math lesson plan for Tony’s class. It was for either 2nd or 3rd grade. It involved teaching two-point spatial mapping through Battleship and maps of Oz, Isla de la Muerta, Hogwarts and Kenowhere. Let me know if you would like me to dig it up from my hard drive.
